Record wood pellet production and use in 2025<\/h2>\n

According to Bioenergy Europe, global wood-pellet production reached 53.5 million tonnes in 2025. That is +10% versus 2024. The association describes this as the strongest year-on-year growth in recent years.<\/p>\n

According to the same report coverage, global pellet consumption reached 51.5 million tonnes. Bioenergy Europe presents this as a new all-time high. The total covers industrial and small-scale use.<\/p>\n

Europe in the wood pellet market<\/h2>\n

According to Bioenergy Europe, Europe is the world’s largest pellet-consuming region. The association puts Europe at 70% of global demand when industrial and small-scale use are combined.<\/p>\n

According to Bioenergy Europe, European small-scale pellet consumption was more than 19 million tonnes in 2025. The association calls this a historical record as reported.<\/p>\n

Residential consumption was 15.3 million tonnes, according to Bioenergy Europe. That is +5% versus 2024.<\/p>\n

According to the association, pellet appliances heat more than 6.5 million households across Europe.<\/p>\n

Bioenergy Europe quotes Manolis Karampinis, Business Development and Membership Director at Bioenergy Europe and General Manager of the European Pellet Council, from the report foreword.<\/p>\n

As quoted by Bioenergy Europe, he points to signs of recovery in pellet stove sales in several markets in 2025. He describes appliances as a complement to the electrification trend in household heating.<\/p>\n
